As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting neonatal care teams, French medical device manufacturer MEDIPREMA recently held a training session for biomedical technicians at Cayenne Hospital.
The Hospital centre is equipped with Médipréma devices, which sometimes require urgent technical intervention in the event of a breakdown. Given the stakes involved, technicians need to be able to carry out maintenance operations independently of operators based outside French Guiana, in order to avoid prolonged delays that could jeopardise the safety of the most vulnerable patients: babies.
Critical local challenges in neonatology
French Guiana’s birth rate is among the highest in France, with a young and steadily growing population. However, the territory has to contend with a prematurity rate higher than the national average, as well as increased risks of neonatal complications due to socio-economic factors, tropical climatic conditions, the spread of endemic infectious diseases and, above all, the remoteness of specialized medical centers. It is therefore crucial that local hospitals, such as the Centre Hospitalier de Cayenne, have state-of-the-art neonatal equipment and the technical skills to intervene rapidly when needed.
A team at the Cayenne hospital, headed by Paulo Matison, received four days’ training from Médipréma. The training covered the proper use and maintenance of the brand’s devices. As a result, in the event of a breakdown, the team will now be able to interact on its own in an emergency.
Mediprema forges overseas partnership to ensure continuity of neonatal care in emergency situations
The training course, scheduled for September 2024, will provide the keys to in-depth expertise in the maintenance of Médipréma medical equipment.
This project, jointly led by Maxime Vigneau and Hélène Doreau, respectively Technical Manager and Export Area Manager at Médipréma, with the support of PERIE MEDICAl, Médipréma’s long-standing partner in the Antilles-Guyana region.
Thanks to this type of initiative, Médipréma is positioning itself not only as a key player in the French market, but also as a trusted partner on the international scene, offering innovative solutions adapted to local challenges.
