French expertise in hemovigilance and transfusion safety
CENTRALIZED MANAGEMENT AT THE COUNTRY LEVEL
Human blood, a rare resource, plays an important role in treating more than one million patients in France each year thanks to the mobilization of 1.7 million donors. Human blood is used to produce two categories of products for therapeutic purposes: labile blood products and blood-derived therapeutic products.
In France, the authority in the blood chain is the EFS (Etablissement Français du Sang). To accomplish its missions, the EFS relies on a unique IT solution that manages all the steps of the chain, from collection through the qualification of the donation (analysis of blood components), storage to the distribution of blood.
This IT solution guarantees hemovigilance and traceability of tubes and blood bags at each key stage of the transfusion chain, from donor to recipient. It is reinforced by an efficient offer for the management of transfusion and blood products in healthcare establishments.
