The French Healthcare Innovation & Business Forum (FHIBF) is the first international business forum dedicated to the French healthcare offer. This unprecedented event aims to develop business flows, facilitate collaborations, and foster synergies between French health players with an international activity or strategy and foreign decision-makers, in order to improve healthcare internationally.

This event allows international decision makers to develop high-level relationships with French stakeholders and identify business or collaboration opportunities in the various fields of Healthcare in order to accelerate the implementation of their ongoing healthcare development projects. The French Healthcare Forum is also an excellent opportunity for French organizations to expand into markets that would otherwise be difficult to access.

The first networking event dedicated to developing international relations with the French Healthcare ecosystem, connecting leading French organizations with international executives and decision makers in order to improve healthcare internationally.

The global health crisis which has severely affected every single country in the world has also uncovered the crucial importance of international collaboration in scientific and medical innovation. It also offered a reminder of the importance of global public health issues in prevention, diagnosis and therapeutic innovation.

France is one of the key players in this dynamic and has many key strengths that form the architecture of an efficient and innovative health system. If France is now recognized as having designed one of the most successful and equitable public health models in the OECD, it is because it has long built up a training system premised on excellence for healthcare professionals, hailed worldwide for their expertise. France’s medical research is also internationally renowned for the avant-gardism and importance of its work, while its pharmaceutical industry forms another major pillar of France’s medical excellence, through the role played by its first-rate international players combined with the innovation dynamics of the startup ecosystems and SMEs established across the country.

To tackle the major health challenges on an international level, France’s actions are based on a coordinated and coherent approach. France has a unique approach on global health, with a model founded on principles, values of solidarity and human rights, its strengths and considerable financial commitments.

The organisation of the French Healthcare Innovation and Business Forum has proven to be an excellent opportunity to create synergies between key French and international players to reinforce the growth of a positive global healthcare ecosystem and to dynamize the development of each of its stakeholders.

In recent decades, the country has set itself apart through its commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, championing maternal and child health, its driving role in developing innovative financing and achieving universal health coverage, the appeal of its university hospital model and the reputation of its humanitarian NGOs. These actions are implemented through policy advocacy, substantial financial commitment, exploitation of scientific research and expertise, and an inclusive approach.

France has set the ambition of becoming the leading nation for industry and innovation in healthcare. To strengthen its position as a global hub for health innovation and to become the leading European nation for healthcare, France, which already has a strong export industry, wants to welcome foreign businesses and institutions and has developed an active policy to attract them.

Organized by French Healthcare Association, an initiative of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the event aims to:

  • Connect decision makers with key French healthcare players in an environment conducive to high-level meetings
  • Develop business flows or collaborations between French and foreign health organizations
  • Improve access to healthcare around the world
  • Create global synergies between health organisations
  • Reinforce the growth of a positive global healthcare ecosystem
  • Dynamize the development of the French and international health players
  • Strengthen France’s cooperation with foreign health actors, in particular with public institutions

2:30 – 3 pm: Infection prevention & control in the post-COVID-19 world

The basic principles of hospital infection prevention and control (IPC) – including hand hygiene, sanitation and environmental hygiene, fresh air and appropriate use of personal protective equipment—were established and gradually adopted into practice in the nineteenth and twentieth century.

In the beginning of the twenty-first century, one of the most important focus in infection prevention has been the disinfection and sterilization of medical devices as a way to minimize preventable healthcare associated infection (HAI). National and International standards have been put in place in order to implement best practices for the disinfection and sterilization of surgical instruments and other invasive medical devices. However those standards have not been yet implemented at a worldwide scale, particularly in emerging countries.

Proper medical waste management is also a pillar in the fight against infections. Health-care waste contains potentially harmful microorganisms that can infect hospital patients, health workers and the general public. Other potential hazards may include drug-resistant microorganisms which spread from health facilities into the environment. According to a recent WHO News Release, today, 30% of healthcare facilities (60% in the least developed countries) are not equipped to handle existing waste loads, let alone the additional load generated by epidemics like COVID-19.

Finally, the emergence of e-health software and data management solutions has contributed largely to a better control of infections. In the context of Covid-19 pandemic, contact tracing has proven to be an effective public health tool for infectious disease control.

Two senior experts from the French companies STEAM and Tesalys shared the progress of innovations in the field of treatment of waste from healthcare activities with infectious risks (DASRI), decontamination and sterilization, developed in order to meet the highest public policy demands around the world for infection control. They presented the most effective tools for traceability in the fight against infections.

Simon Chassain, International Sales Director of Enovacom spoke about the emergence of e-health software and data management solutions which have largely contributed to better infection control. In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, contact tracing has proven to be an effective public health tool for infectious disease control. He also explained how the Covid-19 pandemic has raised awareness in the healthcare community and the general public about infection control and prevention and how the emergence of e-health software and data management solutions will help. to better infection control. He shared on which tools to be more effective in infection control and traceability.

Speakers:

  • Miquel Lozano – President, Tesalys
  • Jean-Pierre Boffy – CEO, STEAM France
  • Simon Chassain – Head of International sales, Enovacom

3 – 3:30 pm: Financing of health projects in developing countries : case study on medical diagnosis in Africa

The development of a quality offer that meets local health needs requires the support of multiple actors, and a strong local presence, towards which a sustainable transfer of skills can take place. The implementation of projects in developing countries therefore requires very specific expertise and must be supported by a network of complementary partners, active locally and benefiting from multiple international support. Two global health players shared the keys to the success of a project to develop a major diagnostic platform in Africa.
